About the Artist
We were born on January 26, 1955, in Sarnia, Ontario. I was the second twin born prematurely to shocked parents. Debbie is a musician living in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.
My interest in art has been with me always, from my first "colouring outside the lines" in kindergarten. Art is a part of me in everything I do, from fine arts to music, to drama, to crafts.
I greatly admire the works of Canadian painters Mary Pratt, Ernest Lindner, and Lawren Harris. Living within the landscape of Northern Ontario, I find the Group of Seven's work particularly compelling. For creative influence, I always come back to the work of Cézanne, Klimpt, and Monet.
Diane Stewart, a fine arts graduate of Mount Allison University, has spent years developing her art and creating new techniques, using watercolour, acrylic, woodblock, beads, glass, and fabric to reflect her view of the world around her.
She is a long-standing member of the Society of Canadian Artists, was elected to the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour in 2000, and most recently has been accepted into the Ontario Society of Artists. She is also a member of the Northern Ontario Art Association, which an artist achieves once they have had works in seven NOAA shows.
